Gray can be anything but bland. Once a pigment is added to a mixture of black and white,it actually becomes a color.  The slight undertone to the color can make a significant difference.

Hints of purple, green or blue can be added in larger quantities  to gray and will produce cooler  shades of gray.  Adding colors such as red to gray will create a warmer paint tone.
Beige on the other hand, describes versions of light brown. To make brown you add hues of red and yellow, and slight shades of blue, and white. White paint tones can lighten brown paint to shades of beige.  To deepen beige, all you need to do is simply add the color black. “Greige” is a mixture of white, black, red and yellow, and a hint of blue.   Greige has been tremendously popular over the last 7 years, and continues to show itself in designer interiors.
Florence Baudoux’s Dark French Apartment

The apartment of the French designer and architect Florence Baudoux once belonged to the French royal family – it was the private residence of the Duke of Montpensier, the fifth son of King Louis Philippe.

Designer Florence Baudoux restored the apartment which underwent a thorough renovation in order to preserve its volumes and original character with the beautiful columns, moldings, stucco, while enhancing the feeling of a contemporary home. The different shades of gray and black created a perfect background to her collection of contemporary art.
